M. Sircar (1908 – 1978) the Form is organizing
an International Symosium On
A Journey From Plant Physiology to Plant Biology, November 26-28, 2008,
in Kolkata. It is organized by Plant Physiology Forum, Kolkata & University of Calcutta & Bose Institute, Kolkata. The Venue is The National Library, Kolkata. Topics of the Symposium -

- Stress Physiology and Stress Management
- Plant-Microbe Interaction
- Hybrid Seed Technology and Production
- Global Climatic Change and Food Security
Apart from publishing an international journal on plant
biology, the Forum is also in the process to publish a book
on Plant Science: Basic and Applied providing
more emphasis on classical Indian works and their implications.
To develop an Academic Insurance Fund to provide
the members a decent and modern facilities so as to help
them to continue their thought processes in a professional
manner and keep contact with fellow colleagues after retiring
from the active service.
To do any such work that will encourage young students
to take up plant biology in their undergraduate and postgraduate
courses.
